Robinhood Expands into Indonesia s Thriving Trading Market

Robinhood Markets, Inc. is set to enter Indonesia s rapidly growing trading market by acquiring PT Buana Capital Sekuritas and PT Pedagang Aset Kripto. This move aims to extend its equities and crypto services to millions of new investors in the region.
Indonesia boasts over 19 million capital market investors and 17 million crypto investors, making it an attractive market for Robinhood s expansion. Patrick Chan, Robinhood s head of Asia, stated,
Indonesia represents a fast-growing market for trading, making it an exciting place to further Robinhood s mission to democratize finance for all.
He highlighted the company s goal to introduce its established platform to local customers.
Following the acquisition, Robinhood will continue to serve existing brokerage customers with Indonesian financial products while preparing to offer U.S. equities, cryptocurrencies, and additional investment tools at scale. However, these deals are subject to regulatory clearance from the Indonesian Financial Services Authority, with an expected closing date in the first half of 2026.
Chan expressed optimism about bringing innovative services to Indonesian customers, stating,
